Things you may like to know about my wedding photography service

Q. How far do you travel to assignments?

Although I am a Devon based wedding photographer, I regularly travel around the UK and also have bases in the Midlands and France. in the UK I do a lot of work around the South West of England, Bristol and Devon; in France I do much work in the South of France, the Cote d'Azur or the French Alps. I am not restricted by area... this year I am photographing weddings in from North Wales down Cannes on the French Riviera, so please do not let your wedding location put you off contacting me... I am willing to travel.

Q. What photography coverage of our wedding day do you offer?

I do not provide a 'one size fits all' service. I am totally flexible with timings for doing your wedding photography and can provide you with a fixed price proposal for the full days coverage from getting ready through to the speeches or the first dance, right down to if you want photography coverage for just your marriage ceremony.

Fixing the price before your wedding gives you the peace of mind that no hidden charges will come up and surprise you after you thought you had budgeted for everything. Do bear in mind though with your budget, after your cake has been eaten and your dress cleaned and put away, your photographs will be your lasting memories. Using a professional wedding photographer is well worth the consideration.

Q. What is your style of photography?

There are lots of terms out there for wedding photography styles for today's weddings... reportage, contemporary, photojournalism, candid. These are all styles that can be applied to your day whether it is going to be a modern, traditional or vintage style wedding.

I use reportage and photojournalism style wedding photography to provide you with your natural unposed photos, ensuring I capture those candid moments that reflect not only the emotional but the fun aspects throughout your day. Basically it means I use long lenses to work unobtrusively to get those images without imposing on you and your guests, allowing the day to unfold naturally.

Whilst some photographers refuse to do posed shots, I understand that family tradition can be important so if you do want some group photographs to provide you and your family with those more formal wedding day memories for future posterity, I aim to do these in speedy but professional manner to ensure that you and guests are not left standing around.

When we have our final meeting before your wedding, I can give some posing hints and tips to hopefully make you less tense in front of the camera on the day. Alternatively, we can get together for a pre-wedding or engagement photograph session which is a great way for us to get to know each other in front of the camera.

Before your wedding day we will have discussed the type of photos you want from your day and I will be working to ensure that you get the photo coverage you have employed me to provide.

Q. Is there a limit to the number of images you take?

Not at all. The number of images taken will largely depend on how long you have asked me to be with you on the day. Throughout the time I am at your wedding, I will take photos... no limits. We will have agreed beforehand on the time out we will take for the shots of just the two of you (normally about half an hour), plus any family and friends group shots. For the rest of time if we have agreed you like reportage style wedding photography, I will mingle discretely with your guests and take in all of those candid moments as they unfold so that you will be presented with the complete story of your wedding day. If you have asked me to stay until after the wedding breakfast, I don't take photos while people are eating and normally take my break at this time; then focussing my time at the reception on candid moments, guests reaction to speeches and then your first dance.

Q. How do we see our photos?

I will process all of the images I have taken from your wedding day and endeavour to have a private gallery preview loaded onto my website for your approval normally within two weeks of your wedding day. This however depends on the length of time I spent at your wedding and how many images I have taken. Larger weddings can take longer to process. I do not add images to your gallery until I am happy with them. Photography is my full time job and as such I work to provide a professional result.

I will have issued your guests with the username and password for your private gallery, but this will not be set to live until you have seen the gallery first. Some images will be displayed in colour and some in black and white, however, any image can be changed back to colour or vice versa for your final selection. If you have not already decided on what presentation style you would like for your photos... album, CD, just prints etc., we can then start to look at the various options to suit your requirements.

Q. We are interested in booking you, how do we proceed?

Send me your details using the contact form and I will send you a wedding photography proposal. Don't forget to include the date and time of your wedding, where you are getting married and what parts of your day you would like me to cover, oh and a bit of high level info such as number of venues and approximate number of guests, this will all help to get the proposal right for you. We will get into further details if you proceed to book with me.

to confirm the booking, if we can meet we will sort out the booking form face to face; however this can all be done by email or post. Once you have agreed the proposal and contract I ask you to pay a 25% booking fee, you will be booked into my diary for your wedding day photography. I will require you to pay the balance of payment one month before the wedding day.

Q. Once we have booked you, what happens next?

Part of my service includes meeting before the wedding to visit the venues and to discuss the finer details... your day's timings and if you have requested formal shots and time out for yourselves, how we fit the photography into the flow of your day, plus taking the opportunity to assess where shots will be taken. I do not set a specific time scale on this as it depends on where your wedding is being held but will always be done before the wedding day for me to assure you that you will be able to let me take care of recording your special moments.
